Well. well, well.
So, spring onions are so called because of the time of the year at which they appear and not for their ability to regain their original shape after being stepped on. You learn something new every day.

Strange, isn't it. And runner beans, I am reliably informed, stay quite still unless you fling them across the kitchen in a fit of pique; spinach doesn't spin; leeks don't leak, although eating too many can make you leak; and pulses are, as far as I can tell, beyond comatose with not a pulse amongst them.
